Baeldeth the Hand
Baeldeth is the tyrannical king of Azatharia.
“Nimlar Sumel, by the power vested in me by the kingdom of Azatharia, I pronounce you guilty of high treason.”
A haughty, ignorant, but ultimately powerful man, Baeldeth “the Hand” had blond hair and a pale complexion. He was said not be a physically imposing king, not intimidating in the slightest. It was the power behind the man that kept the rebels in check.
Baeldeth had complete control of the kingdom of Azatharia in the late twelfth and early thirteenth centuries, to the point where no one dared question his authority. It was rumored that he had some kind of demonic influence on his subjects, but this was never confirmed.
As the thirteenth century began, a young noble named Nimlar Sumel, actually the nephew of the king himself, began to speak out against the tyranny of the monarch. It eventually led to rebellion, which was utterly crushed in 1230 AY. The following year, Nimlar was sentenced to death on charges of high treason, but miraculously escaped and fled the country.
Baeldeth consolidated his power.
